Thankfulness Takes Time

Count your blessings, name them one by one, count your blessings, see what God has done! Count your blessings, name them one by one. Count your many blessings, see what God has done. (Traditional Hymn)

Thankfulness is not really something done best “on the run.” I mean, we can say a quick grace over our food or shoot a five second text that simply says “Thx!” But, to truly express deep gratitude and appreciation – to God and to others – takes time. Being grateful is a multistep process. First, we must recognize that we are blessed. Second, we must reflect upon what the blessing means for our lives. Finally, we must express our gratitude. To skip a step is to miss out on the fullness of the blessing.

This month I am encouraging us to simply take the time to be thankful. Take the time to recognize. Take the time to reflect. And, by all means, take the time to practically express your appreciation, both to Jesus and to those in your life who enrich you with so many blessings. When we take the time to simply live a life of gratitude, we are doubly blessed. First by the actual gift and then by the joy that comes when the gift is cherished!

Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift! 2 Corinthians 9:15 (NRSV)

Loving and praying for you,
Pastor Danielle
