Get in Balance!
The Lord detests the use of dishonest scales, but he delights in accurate weights. Proverbs 11:1 (NLT)
The word for us today is BALANCE. If we were to be honest with ourselves and with others, we know that our lives are a bit off centered. It is hard to live balanced lives when our bodies, minds, and emotions are often pulled in so many directions. Nevertheless, the Lord is delighted when we are in sync with Holy Spirit and when we take the time to take care of ourselves.
The idea of weights as used in Proverbs 11 had to do with grains being purchased at market. The wisdom was to make sure the seller used honest scales and didn’t charge people more than was right. Accuracy is critical. In our lives today, we may not have to deal with dishonest scales at the grocery store. But how often do we apply the wrong “weight” to situations and relationships in our lives? We put more emphasis on how people have wronged us instead of upon all the good things (and people) that are all around us. We can too often have priorities that take us away from God and the spiritual disciplines that we so desperately need to be salt and light in our world. Today’s message is a message of hope and healing.
Get in balance. Come back to center. Agree with Christ that your time, talents, and treasures should be extended first and foremost to the God who gave all of heaven just for a chance to be in a loving relationship with you. Sometimes we feel like it’s too costly to refocus and reimagine our lives. Today, hear the Lord say, it is too costly NOT to get in balance. You are loved! Love yourself enough to pause and ask, “How can I get in balance and delight the heart of God?”
Then Jesus said, ‘Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest'. Matthew 11:28 (NLT)
Loving and praying for you,
