Remember to Rejoice!
Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Philippians 4:4
We have made it to the last month of the year (the last two weeks actually!) After all that we have experienced personally and globally over the past twenty-two months, we have great reason to rejoice. Joy is a necessity for anyone who will be spiritually healthy. Joy helps to break up the monotony of pain, uncertainty, and disappointment that often fills our news stories and our very lives.
There is perhaps no better time of the year to recommit ourselves to joy than the Advent and Christmas seasons. An admonition to rejoice accompanied every announcement about the birth of Christ. More specifically, do not be afraid…but rejoice! (Luke 2:10) Messiah’s coming is the ultimate reason why we can and should have joy. No matter what life brings (or doesn’t bring) joy is appropriate. So today, and every day, remember to rejoice. Take the time to rehearse the ways that Christ has been faithful, good, kind, and true in your life. Then, make it your business to celebrate the Giver of these wonderful gifts. When we rejoice, we ensure that the peace, hope, love, and goodness of this season is also manifested in our hearts each day.
Joy to the world the Lord is come! Let earth receive her King! Let every heart prepare Him room!
Loving and praying for you,
Pastor Danielle
