How Can I Be Peace?
Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me. Let there be peace on earth, the peace that was meant to be…
We have sung the hymn Let There Be Peace on Earth at the start of our worship services this month. This has been done as a prayer and as a prophetic utterance. Our world needs peace. We need it too. Sometimes, we know what we need, but we are not too clear on how to bring it to pass. Today, I offer this poem to you as an answer to the question: How Can I be Peace?
On This Day....
Mend a quarrel
Search out a forgotten friend
Dismiss suspicion, replace it with trust
Write a love letter
Share some treasures
Give a soft answer
Encourage youth
Manifest your loyalty in word or deed
Keep a promise
Find the time
Forego a grudge
Forgive an enemy
Listen
Apologize if you were wrong
Try to understand
Flout envy
Examine your demands on others
Think first of someone else
Appreciate, be kind, be gentle
Laugh a little more.
Be confident
Take up arms against malice
Decry complacency
Express your gratitude
Worship your God
Gladden the heart of a child
Delight in the beauty and wonder of the earth
Speak your love
Speak it again
Speak it still again
Speak it still once again...
