It’s a Good Time to Pray…
Then Jesus told them a parable about their need to pray always and not to lose heart. Luke 18:1 (NRSV)
The month of June is upon us and for the second year God is calling us into an intense time of prayer as a community. You are invited to join us in our “Prayer Blitz” from June 1-30. We will have a daily prayer focus to guide us as we bombard heaven and fill the earth with sounds of prayer and praise to Jehovah. Additionally, we will continue our weekly prayer sessions at 1pm on Monday afternoons (via WebEx) and from 7-7:15am on Wednesday mornings (via conference call). I encourage those who do not normally attend these prayers sessions to commit to do so at least twice during the month.
The highlight of our “Prayer Blitz” (see calendar for daily prayer prompts) will be a 24-hour prayer vigil, beginning Friday, June 24th at 12pm and culminating on Saturday, June 25th at 12pm. This time of prayer will take place in-person in our Sanctuary for the entire 24 hours. You will also be able to join us virtually for some portions of that time. I will share more about the prayer vigil as the day approaches. I am requesting that you make plans now to invest 1 hour to pray with us on that day.
We can see signs that we need to pray all around us locally, nationally, and internationally. Jesus said in Matthew 21:13 “My House will be called a House of Prayer….” I can see no better starting place to drive back the forces of evil and brokenness that surround us, than to press into prayer and to invite our communities to pray along with us. I hope you agree with me.
Then he came to the disciples and found them sleeping; and he said to Peter, “So, could you not stay awake with me one hour? Stay awake and pray that you may not come into the time of trial; the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. Matthew 26:40-41 (NRSV)
Loving and praying for you,
Pastor Danielle
