That’s A Lot of Sermons!
For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints, and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Hebrews 4:12 (NIV)
Well, November is here. This is the month that we pause and focus our hearts, minds, and spirit on gratitude. Moreover, we take a few moments to thank God for the marriage of pastor and people that occurred now 5 years ago, when I was called. In recent weeks whenever I have mentioned to someone that my 5th Pastoral Anniversary was coming, folks almost always said, “wow… that time went by quickly!” I immediately tell them that, for me, the time has not been so quick, because I have preached a lot of sermons! I’ll let you do the math.
I do recognize that 5 years is a brief span in the life of our church. Five years (especially with the way those COVID years went) seems almost inconsequential. But these years have been anything but insignificant. We have grown, changed, and are yet Becoming.Better.Together. in that time. This month, I will return to some of the most impactful, and even popular, sermons that I have preached at Clarendon. It will be fun for us to reminisce, reflect, and to hear God anew, through these old sermons. And I invite you to please help me! Is there a sermon that you would like to hear again (for the first time)? Please take a moment to tell me which sermons, or sermon series, have challenged, encouraged, inspired, and helped you the most from my first 5 years. I want to hear from you!
As we look back, we will also look forward, all while giving thanks to Emmanuel – who indeed is with us in our past, present, and future!
Loving and praying for you,
Pastor Danielle
